Southlake Real Estate

A smaller but rapidly expanding wealthy community, Southlake, Texas, lies in northeastern Tarrant and southern Denton counties. It is a suburban area near Grapevine, Colleyville, and Keller, and about 23 miles east of Dallas. The city has seen its population rise by nearly 24% over the last decade, and an estimate taken in July 2008 showed the population nearly 27,000.

The community was first settled in the 1840s but it was not incorporated until 1956. Southlake has a total area of 22.5 square miles, and was named by Forbes.com as the most affluent neighborhood in the United States based on average median household income estimate in December 2008. During that year, household annual median income was measured to be more than $160,000, while median home values were more than $522,000, some of the highest in the area.

Professional, scientific and technical services and education are the most popular industries in which residents work, and most children living in Southlake are assigned to the Carroll Independent School District, which includes Carroll,Old Union, Rockenbaugh, Durham and Johnson elementary schools; Eubanks and Durham intermediate schools; Dawson and Carroll middle schools; Carroll High School for grades nine and 10 and Carroll Senior High School for grades 11 and 12. Small parts of the city are served by the Northwest and Keller independent school districts.

Southlake also has two private schools, the Clariden School and the Highland Meadow Montessori School. The city maintains its Walnut Grove Park, and Southlake Town Square is a popular shopping center. The nearest hospital is about four miles away in Grapevine. Southlake it also home to Sabre Holdings, an S&P 500 company and the owner of the online travel site, Travelocity. Other large enterprises include gasoline storage and distribution and concrete.
