A suburban city located in northeast Tarrant County, Bedford, Texas, lies approximately between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. Its population in 2008 was around 50,000, a 4% increase since the 2000 census.

The city has a total area of 10 square miles, and the industries in which the most Bedford residents are employed include the air transportation, education, finance and insurance sectors. Median annual household income was estimated around $66,500 in 2008, up by nearly $12,000 since the 2000 census. Likewise, home values were estimated with a median of around $180,000 in 2008, up from just $116,000 in 2000, but those figures do not take into account any price falls that may have occurred since the recession.

Bedford is part of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District and home to the Bedford Public Library. It neighbors the cities of Hurst and Euless, and the three share a school district. Bedford also has the St. Vincent Episcopal School for private education of students in grades K-6. For medical attention, Bedford residents can visit the Harris Methodist Hospital.

The city celebrates annual events like the Halloween Fest and the Bedford Holiday Tree Lighting, a 4thFEST Independence Day Celebration and the Bedford Blues & BBQ Labor Day Festival over the summer. During warmer months, the city hosts a Twilight Thursdays concert series at the the Old Bedford School's south lawn. Activities in the city include the Onstage in Bedford theater troupe, the Bedford Splash, a city water park, the Boys Ranch Park & Activity Center, the Meadowpark Athletic Complex and several city parks.
