Fate Real Estate Information

A small, close-knit community in the northern part of the state, the city of Fate, Texas, lies within the boundaries of Rockwall County, in the greater suburban Dallas area and the Dallas/Forth Worth Metroplex. The city is growing at a rapid clip, as are so many other communities in this area, one the nation's fastest-growing. At the time of the 2000 census, Fate was home to just under 500 residents. An estimate taken in 2006 showed that the population had by then risen to around 3,300, while current estimates based on water bills guess that the population is now hovering at just over 5,000.

Fate sits on an area of just under five square miles. The city was founded in the late 19th century and was called Barnes, but in 1887, residents and real estate owners in the area changed its name to Fate. The city was incorporated in September 1900.

Children living in Fate are served by the Rockwall Independent School District, though a small portion of the outskirts of the city lies within the Royse City Independent School District. Because of its rapid growth and development, Fate's city administration recently approved one of the largest residential real estate development in the county that, when finished, will contain more than 5,000 properties.

Residents of fate were estimated in 2007 to have a median household income of just over $73,000, while the median value of their houses and condos was more than $113,000. Public administration, health care and computer and electronics are the industries in which the most residents work, and the nearest hospital is just 10 miles away in Rowlett.
