A small but growing city in the greater Dallas region, Oak Point, Texas, is a modest community that encompasses an area of just under six square miles in Denton County. The city has seen large increases in its population over recent years, with an increase of nearly 70 percent since the 2000 census putting the population now at nearly 3,000.

Children who grow up in Oak Point will be zoned to schools within the Little Elm and Denton Independent School Districts. Though there are no institutions of higher education directly in Oak Point, there are several nearby -- Collin County Community College, Texas Woman's University and the University of North Texas are all within 15 miles. The nearest hospital about seven miles away in Lewisville, and the most popular industries for residents here to find employment in include professional, scientific and technical services, construction, health care and education. Oak Point's residents tend to be highly educated, with more than 91 percent having a high school diploma, and nearly a third having a bachelor's degree or higher.

Though small, Oak Point is near to many larger communities and their attractions, including the shopping and water parks of Lewisville, the colleges and cultural institutions of Denton, and the many recreational offerings at Lewisville Lake.
