Double Oak Real Estate Information

A small community in Denton County, the city of Double Oak, Texas, has nonetheless been growing in leaps and bounds in recent years. This largely rural community is becoming a bit more suburban with its growth in population. In 2000, there were just over 2,100 residents here. By July 2007, that figure had already grown to an estimated nearly 3,100.

Double Oak encompasses an area of more than two square miles in the southern part of the county, and it was incorporated in May 1974 with a population of 243, though a school district was established here as early at 1884. It is a rather wealthy community, with residents having a household income estimated at nearly $140,000 in 2007, up from just over $113,000 in 2000. Real estate values are, not surprisingly, higher than many local prices as well, with properties average a worth of more than $350,000 in 2007, up from around $250,000 in 2000.

The community's children are served by the Denton and Lewisville Independent School Districts, depending on area of residence. There are two colleges in nearby Denton, just 10 miles away, with another half dozen or so within 30 miles. The nearest hospital is just seven miles away in Denton, and the city lies near Bridlewood Country Club and roughly between Lake Dallas and Grapevine Lake.

It is also conveniently just about 40 miles northwest of Dallas, making it an ideal location for those who work in Dallas but prefer to commute in from a more quiet and residential area. Professional, scientific and technical services, education and air transportation are the largest industries in which residents here are employed, with executives, teachers and sales representatives the most common occupations.
