Fairview Real Estate Information

A burgeoning community in Collin County, the city of Fairview, Texas, is located in the northeastern portion of the state, about 30 miles north of Dallas. The city had a population of just over 2,500 at the time of the 2000 census, but Collin County and the surrounding areas have been experiencing tremendous growth patterns in population in the recent decade, and a 2009 estimate puts Fairview with a population of nearly 9,000 residents. It is easy to see Fairview has a come a long way since incorporating in 1958, when it had a population of just 50. The community is a rather wealthy enclave of the north Texas region, with residents having a median annual household income of more than $107,000, a figure well above all other averages in the area.

Real estate values have been on the rise along with the community's population. Figures estimated in 2007, showed residential properties were averaging a value of more than $400,000. The city takes up an area of almost nine square miles, and its motto is "Keeping it Country," in an homage to its roots as a rural, farming community. A new 800-plus-acre development site was recently completed, with two miles of frontage road on U.S. Highway 75.

The community is also home to a distinct feature in the Fairview Soccer Complex, which sits on almost 75 acres owned by the town. Once finished, the complex will have top-notch soccer fields as well as housing for soccer players who will come to Fairview to work on their skills in the sport. Children in the community are served by schools in the McKinney and Lovejoy independent school districts. Professional, scientific, and technical services, computers and electronics and education are the industries in which the most residents are employed.

The town is adjacent to the 289-acre Heard Wildlife Sanctuary and it is home to the Heard Museum and the Heritage Ranch. Another development currently underway is the Village at Fairview, a mixed use lifestyle center that, when finished, will include one million square feet of retail space, a hotel, restaurants, office space and residential units. The Village at Fairview will include such stores as Macy's, Dillard's, Whole Foods, The Container Store and J.C. Penney. The complex is expected to be completed in 2010.
